The candidate should be adept at managing infrastructure and applications related to the hosting of web applications. Responsibilities: * Function as DevOps Liaison: translating developer and business desires into operational requirements * Lead Application Design Efforts * ‘Tier 3' troubleshooting as need Minimum Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience * Systems Analysis and Design Experience * Comfortable with large scale production systems and technologies * Web Application Development Experience (Java, PHP, Python, etc.) * Familiarity with software engineering best practices * Familiarity with configuration management tools (i.e. Chef, Puppet, Ansible, or Saltstack) * Working knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker, ECS, Mesos, Kubernetes * Strong Unix / Linux proficiency * Understanding of Load Balancing Technologies (F5) * Well-versed in GIT usage and best practices (Gitlab / Github) * Strong oral/written communication skills Additional Desired Qualifications: * Systems automation experience with Java is a plus (maven, ant) * Understanding of object-oriented software and design patterns * Experience with modern front-end technologies such as SCSS, Bower, NPM, Webpack, Aurelia/React/Angular * Experience with AWS such as: EC2, SQS, Lambda, RDS, RedShift, Kafka, ECS * Comfortable working in all layers of the networking stack * Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools * Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases * Experience supporting LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) stack for web content delivery * Experience supporting various CMS platforms (Wordpress) Penguin Random House is the leading adult and children's publishing house in North America, the United Kingdom and many other regions around the world.
